Mira B. Weiss is the founder and managing attorney of Weiss Law Group, PLLC. With thirty years of experience as an attorney and business professional, she brings a fresh, holistic approach to elder law, trusts and estates, guardianship, and Medicaid planning.
Mira is known for her warmth, energy, and highly effective legal representation. She understands that in addition to solid technical skills, a great lawyer must have empathy and patience. Her success in the courtroom and her interactions with clients are testimony to her abilities.
She brings to her practice a unique set of skills and experience in public health, health law, and insurance. Before launching the Weiss Law Group, she served as Deputy Director of Operations of the world-famous Bellevue Hospital Center (“Bellevue”) and as counsel to Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, Bellevue, and private medical practices. She also worked in the health insurance industry as counsel and senior executive for insurers such as Horizon New Jersey and Horizon Pennsylvania (Blue Cross Blue Shield affiliated companies) and as General Counsel and Vice President at Touchstone Health (a Medicare company).
Mira is a frequent lecturer and panelist in trusts and estates, elder law and guardianship who has taught at the Association of the Bar of the City of New York (NYCBA), The National Law Institute, Fordham University, and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. She has held multiple leadership positions, including appointment to the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) House of Delegates and the NYCBA Council on the Professions, chair of the NYCBA Small Law Firms Committee, and the Federal Bar Association, Southern District of New York Health Law Committee. She is a member of the NYSBA Elder Law and Special Needs, and Trusts and Estates sections and the NYCBA Surrogate’s Court and Small Law Firms committees.
Mira is a graduate of George Washington University School of Law, winner of the Court Practice award, and a cum laude graduate of the Honors Program of Temple University, where she studied Theater and Communications. She is admitted to practice in New York, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Court of Appeals.
